A student learning outcome is one that measures a specific competency attainment.

 

Examples of a direct assessment (evidence) of student learning attainment that might be used include:  capstone performance, third-party examination, faculty-designed examination, professional performance, licensure examination). 

 

To help students succeed, community colleges must both assess skills and remediate deficiencies before students take more than 25 percent of the credits in business programs.

 

Add these to the description of the measurement instrument in column two:

Formative – An assessment conducted during the student’s education.

Summative – An assessment conducted at the end of the student’s education.

Internal – An assessment instrument that was developed within the business unit.

External – An assessment instrument that was developed outside the business unit.

MGNT 6008:  Students organized themselves to name their group business and schedule group meetings. Students prepared and presented marketing oriented cases dealing and metrics problems.  Each group did complete the assigned group projects. Only 13.6% of students failed to perform at the advanced level.

 

MGNT6090: Average peer rating for team members was 4.1/5.0 or 84%.

 

Enhance student learning on coaching skills for teams (consider sequence of classes if feasible). Implement a team evaluation rubric to determine student participation to group projects.

MGNT 6008: Student performance on in class

discussion of current topical subjects this semester included the brand damage of the Tiger Woods brand and other corporate brands, the economic impact of product portfolio management in a down economy. Assessment of NMC in a changing environment. No quantitative assessment.

 

MGNT 6090: Student performance on the class project (paper and presentation) reflected intermediate performance on this objective.  Class Average was 99%.

In first draft poor writing skills with inappropriate grammar. Extensive use of editorial and personal

comment such as over use of personal pronouns, and conversational style of writing. Each group made the necessary revisions thereby greatly enhancing the quality of the plan and presentation. The average grade of Marketing Plans was 95.9.

 

MGNT6090: Each student presented his or her Strategic Plan as a paper and presentation.  The average grade was 93/100.

 

Develop rubrics for use with oral and written presentations.

 

Inform students of resources available (e.g., videotaping) for practice.

 

Initiate more in-depth instruction on citations including more examples and a self-test in

However, we have devised measurement tools to assess in future. Our pilot attempt overall average is 86.65% at this time.

 

MGNT 6008: Students are required to write an environmental analysis in their marketing plans which includes legal/regulatory and social issues.

 

MGNT 6090:  Ethical issues were discussed and were included in the final presentation.  Given an ethical dilemma, students wrote an essay evaluating the situation and articulating issues.  All students successfully completed the assignment. 

Assess a current activity which incorporates ethical issues.

 

Develop integrative ethical problem statements for student response.
